To Whom It May Concern:
I am the eldest of four siblings and have become responsible for managing my parent’s affairs. I was feeling desperate when they suddenly required more care than their retirement community could provide. Grand Rapids is far away from California, where I live, and none of the other siblings live near enough to be able to help out on a daily basis, which is what our parents clearly needed. When one of my brothers explained the situation to a friend the friend suggested that his wife might know of a service in Grand Rapids that could help us. I called her immediately. I must say her description of Leaves was so glowing I thought it must be over the top - no organization could offer the degree of personalized care and service she described. And now here I am, saying the same things.
Leaves does an extraordinary job of providing quality care at a reasonable price. The care givers are personable, knowledgeable, compassionate and efficient. One of the features of Leaves care is that a customer receives copies of the daily notes the care givers write. I grew to look forward to reading those notes as they offered detailed descriptions of my parent’s lives, and it was a way to feel close to them. It also made it easy to understand the difficulty of the job Leaves was undertaking, and the sensitivity and expertise the care givers displayed while being right there in the trenches. They all held my mother’s hand when she was discouraged and having a hard time. One even prayed with her. I know my mother was deeply consoled by that. I say that’s service above and beyond.
You would expect such a strong ship to have a strong leader and Vicky Smit does not disappoint. She called me personally several times to explain situations that needed attention, and if I didn’t have a clear idea of what to do, she always had an expert suggestion or two. She was always available when I needed her. The times when I called the office everyone was friendly and efficient, completing a seamless circle of professionalism.
Caring for someone’s sick and/or disabled loved ones is very hard work…often thankless, and you must have someone you can trust. I recommend Leaves without reservation.
We want to thank you for all the wonderful care you gave Mom over the years. You made her days so much better for her.
You all are a real blessing to us and to Mom.

Above and beyond. Gentle, intuitive, other-centered. Reliable, dependable, flexible. These are just a few of the words that come to mind as I reflect on the care you gave my mother, and ultimately, our entire family. As Vicky may remember, Mom sure wasn’t excited about having “strangers” coming into her home, and, of course, she “didn’t need any help.” It didn’t take long before she would go on and on about your care companions and how wonderful they were to her. They made delicious meals, laundered her clothes and linens, and cared for her personal needs.
As Mom’s health declined, her need for care increased, and you responded. Doctor appointments would pop up and I would have to call and change the schedule, and you responded. Mom suffered that terrible fall and her care needs increased again, and you responded. I can’t begin to recall how many times your scheduler and I called each other back and forth making sure we had it covered. Going to 24 hour care was a big step for us as my siblings and I realized that we could do a much better job at being her children if we didn’t have to be her caretakers. Honestly, we weren’t that good at it (especially compared to your caregivers), no matter how hard we tried or how willing we were to do it. Because of you, we were able to give my mom the long and loving good-bye she deserved. Words cannot adequately express our appreciation for such a gift.
I also want to let you know that Aunt Kaye has now moved into a special care unit. Rob and I will never, ever forget how you helped us assist her during this profound transition in her life. How can I forget calling you in a panic from Oregon and hearing Vicky tell us that she and her crew would take care of everything? Your care companion took such loving care of her as she mourned her loss of independence. They always treated her with dignity and adapted to her unique needs, even as they progressed.
Vicky and staff, please accept our sincere gratitude, from both my and my husband’s families. Your commitment to service is beyond compare. I would be honored to recommend you to anyone in need of personal care at any level, and have passed your name and number along to others already. Wishing you all the best.
I wanted to take a minute and thank you and your staff again for all your help and thoughtfulness in caring for my mother, Barbara Boehlke. Through the six plus years that Leaves cared for Mom, as she moved from independent to assisted living to 24 hour care, Leaves’ personnel consistently went above and beyond in caring for her.
During hospital admittances, there were situations when we, the family, needed someone to be with Mom at the hospital until we could get there and you and Leaves were always very accommodating and helpful in filling that need. No matter what we requested, you and your staff helped us. Most of all, you and your staff always treated Mom as if she were a member of your family and helped her maintain her dignity and pride as her health declined. She looked forward to Leaves’ visits and was glad to have your help and companionship. You and your staff worked very well with care facility staff and family coordinating activities and ensuring that Mom was given the best care possible.
All of the family would certainly recommend Leaves Personal Care to anyone considering your services without reservation. On behalf of all of us, thank you again.

I am writing in reference to the personal care my grandmother Elinore Hanson received for over two years from Leaves Personal Care Services, LLC.
We had tried some other home health care but the service we received from Leaves was by far the most caring and complete. All of their staff had a way of treating and caring for my grandmother as if she was one of their family. Vicky Smit was always available to answer questions and the caregivers that came in to care for my grandmother gave her the care and compassion she needed at a very difficult time of her life.
I always knew that someone from Leaves with her she was being well cared for. My grandmother not only needed physical care but emotional support as well and she received both.
I without question would recommend Leaves to anyone that is seeking extra home health care for someone they love.

This is a letter in reference to the Leaves Personal Care staff.
During our mother’s stay at Sentinel Pointe, the Leaves staff provided personal care services for her. They helped with medication, daily routines, trips to the doctor and companionship. We truly do not believe that our mother could have done without them.
Vicky and her staff were excellent! They were always warm, caring and showed a great deal of love. They treated our mother like she was their mother. They were always very respectful and allowed her dignity. They seemed to understand the little quirks and habits that make up each individual.
The family was treated with the greatest respect. We were always kept well informed and we trusted the staff completely. Our family came to love each of the staff members. We cannot speak highly enough of this great team and their concern and care for the elderly. They are truly a blessing from God.

Leaves Personal Care Services, LLC has been a beautiful blessing in my mother’s life, as well as mine and my sister. They have become friends and almost like family to us through their personal and professional care for our mother.
Last fall my mother became very ill while living in a retirement home without the services of assisted living or nursing care. She was to a point of needing around the clock care and we were unable to be there for her 24 hours a day. We were introduced to Jan and Vicky with Leaves Personal Care Services. They stepped up to help with my mother immediately. They were able to put together care for her in her apartment 24 hours a day.
The caregivers always treated my mother as they would their own. They cared for her on her level of ability; with love and respect. They got to know her for who she was. I witnessed the love they have in caring for the elderly; treating my mother with the utmost respect and dignity at all times; which could be a challenge in my mother’s situation. They were aware of my mother’s needs physically, medically, emotionally and spiritually. I have learned a lot from Jan and Vicky in how to best help and understand my mother’s needs myself.
The daily diary they kept of my mother’s day was a tremendous help in getting to the bottom of her medical needs. It helped track patterns of her behavior; which helped us to solve her medical problems. They are attuned to medicines and medical needs; as well as basic daily needs and emotional needs. The communication they have made with family is outstanding. They always kept me on top of my mother’s situation and made suggestions when needed.
I cannot say enough about Leaves Personal Care Services. I have recommended them to many friends. They go beyond what you would expect from personal caregivers. They have been a gift to our family.
When you read their mission and vision statements: “Our services are personal and unique…because you are.” “We see every personal as an individual, with dignity and value.” “Our unique, Personal Care Services reflect this,” you can know they truly believe this; and go beyond the call of duty to fulfill their mission.
We used your service for my father recently and I want to tell you how much we appreciate what Leaves offers. Everything about our contact with your personal care services was wonderful. The business is well run and true to its mission and is like none other we know. We appreciate that you were involved and followed-up on things. Everyone we had contact with was caring and professional and sincere.
All your caregivers were very helpful, but one stood out - the caregiver who was there when my father died was appropriately compassionate, helpful and not at all intrusive.
Thank you ever so and if you need personal recommendations, I am more than happy to share my experience.Sincerely,
